About Phillip E. Prueter, P.E.

Phillip E. Prueter, P.E., is the founder and principal consultant of Prueter Engineering. With more than 15 years of consulting experience, he is an internationally recognized engineering consultant and subject matter expert in pressure equipment design, fitness-for-service, advanced stress analysis, and industry damage mechanisms. Phil founded Prueter Engineering with the primary objective of helping owner-operators improve plant safety and reliability by solving their most challenging technical problems.
Phil has contributed directly to the development of industry Codes and Standards, including ASME Section VIII Division 2 and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, Fitness-For-Service, and has authored or co-authored over 100 technical publications, with original content generated through ASME, API, NACE/AMPP, AIChE, EEMUA, IPEIA, World Fertilizer Magazine, The Welding Research Council, ASM International, and Inspectioneering Journal. He is perhaps best known for the distinguished 27-part Damage Control series in Inspectioneering Journal and has published nine eBooks on critical topics such as high-temperature creep, corrosion under insulation, stress corrosion cracking, thermal-mechanical fatigue, metallurgical embrittlement, and brittle fracture. His dedication to knowledge sharing and technical leadership has earned him recognition across the energy and process industries.
Phil enjoys the fast-paced, dynamic nature of technical consulting and finds it to be both challenging and rewarding. Phil believes it is imperative to develop novel engineering assessment methods and continually advance technology to meet the ever-changing needs of owner-operators. He also truly appreciates all the working relationships he has established with valued clients and other subject matter experts around the world.
